Community Involvement

Andrew was recently nominated for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Man of the Year fundraising campaign. This 10 week effort culminates in May, 2020, with the aim of raising more than $1 million for cancer research and treatments. LLS is at the forefront of the fight to cure cancer. Compared to other blood cancer nonprofits, LLS is the largest funder of cutting-edge research to advance cures. The organization has invested nearly $1.3 billion in research. LLS is a leader in advancing breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine. These revolutionary new treatments originally discovered through blood cancer research are now being tested in clinical trials for other cancers.

In 2017, Andrew joined as a board member of Capital City Clauses, served as Jingle Ball co-chair in 2018, and presently serves as chair of Jingle Ball in 2019. Through the Jingle Ball, the largest holiday cocktail party in the area, Capital City Clauses raises more than $250,000 for deserving children in Wake County. In 2018 alone, this great organization collected 500 backpacks full of school supplies, winter clothing for 290 children, and donated 11,291 toys, providing joy for those who otherwise wouldn't have it at Christmas.

In years past, Andrew has also been a dedicated fundraiser for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society's Annual Bike MS. Personally raising over $10,000 for medical research, Andrew rode his bike 120 miles along the Greenbrier River Trail so that, hopefully, those with MS will be able to do the same.

Andrew previously served on the Board of Directors of Family Counseling Connection, a non-profit organization providing individual, family, and group counseling by experienced, masters-level therapists.  These professionals help individuals deal with situations involving a variety of family and relationship problems, anxiety, depression, sexual assault related issues, and many other situations.  Andrew volunteered on the Board from 2010 to 2013 and worked dilligently to see that Family Counseling Connection is on firm footing through the development of a strategic plan for the next decade.
